LIFE’ s Spectrum of Services

LIFE Research & Consult offers a wide spectrum of services, tailored to the specific needs of our customers - for example political entities, educational and research institutions, and other public and private institutions or enterprises. We focus on consulting, development, and research in the fields of education and training, assessment and knowledge management. Special emphasis is given to evaluation and quality assurance, as well as to technology-based assessment and learning.

• Consulting: LIFE offers a broad variety of consulting services in the fields of education and training, knowledge management, quality assurance and evaluation. We can help you identify, define and sort your aims, analyze the constraints unique to your institution or organisation, and guide you towards adequate problem-solving strategies. We provide expert support in very diverse areas of education and training, ranging from theoretical work to the development of concrete applications. Furthermore we can help you translate research results into strategic concepts or policy recommendations.

• Development: LIFE Research & Consult is specialized in developing assessment and evaluation instruments and corresponding theoretical frameworks. This includes item creation, modification and selection, developing translation and scoring procedures, empirical test of the instrument, data analyses and reporting. We can also support you in implementing the product and developing accompanying measures.
  Major efforts are currently being done in order to introduce the ACER International Schools’ Assessment to Germany.
  Further innovative work is carried out in the domain of Open Content.

• Research: LIFE aims at studying the fundamental determinants of effective and efficient education and training, and strongly focuses on methodological aspects. One of our main current research interests is language learning, and more specifically early total immersion approaches. A second focus is on the so-called Open Content approach, and how it can be used in education. Finally, technology-based assessment in different content areas is a major LIFE research priority.
  
  Besides the direct involvement in different research projects, LIFE Research & Consult also aids national and international institutions and organisations to adequately apply scientific methods and interpret research results. We can support you in finding appropriate external experts, and provide you with international contacts that can enable you to build research consortiums and networks.
