Work on linking microfinance approaches to educational issues Microfinance programs direct small and micro credits to clients
who would otherwise have no access to formal lending schemes. Thus they provide the opportunity to become economically self-sufficient and to escape poverty. During the
last years, research has proven that education and training programs, which accompany credit schemes, greatly enhance the success and sustainability of the microfinance program
results. LIFE is currently contributing on a small scale to an international knowledge base and aims at providing evaluative support in an area which combines microfinance and education
projects. Further research work explores the potential of microfinance to exploit new opportunities in education in developing countries.
