Research on language learning

Foreign language skills and competencies do not only constitute an important background for (lifelong) learning, but are also pre-requisites for intercultural exchange and co-operation. Globalization and increased mobility demand effective language learning strategies for both adults and children; PISA results indicate that this is especially important for immigrant children. Promoting foreign language skills for a wider range of learners is a LIFE priority.

LIFE has started some work on total immersion methods in language learning, and is currently setting up a network with experts in the domain of foreign language assessment.
