ISA - What it provides
The final International Schools’ Assessment
(ISA) instruments provided by LIFE can be implemented in
German schools to assess the reading, writing and mathematical
competencies of students in grades 3, 5, 7 and 9 or 10.
The results may be used to track changes over time both
at the individual and school level, and to give support
in planning school programs and instructional strategies.
As the instruments tap higher order skills such as problem
solving, critical thinking and communicative competence,
they can also be used for broadly conceived selection procedures
such as the preselection of trainees.
Some further uses of ISA:
- the individual students’ results can be used to reflect on and to respond to strengths and weaknesses
- the data can be used to compare subgroup performance (e.g. students from different language backgrounds)
- the school’s results can be referred to in order to evaluate general instructional programs
- upon request, the school’s results may be compared with other schools with similar/other profiles
