The International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) The
International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) is an annual assessment program that has been designed and developed by ACER
to measure mathematical and reading literacy, as well as writing skills of students from grades 3, 5, 7 and 9 or 10. While the
original ISA-booklets are conceived for students whose language of instruction is English, LIFE Research & Consult is adapting the assessment instruments to serve students in Germany whose language of
instruction is German. The instruments are based on the internationally endorsed reading and mathematical literacy frameworks of the OECD’s
Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and are relevant for students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, in schools with a variety of curricula.
The
piloting of the ISA instruments with German students is
scheduled for the first and second quarter of 2004; first
implementation will take place in fall 2004.
